Serenade 3 Review

Serenade 3

Let me just say that I already had the opportunity to listen to this cd and it's better than I expected it to be. The people at Classified Records have put together a cd that will no doubt get you in a lovey-dovey mood. The new song "When You Love Someone" by Drop N Harmony and Premiere is very pretty and since it's the first track it automatically sets a romantic mood. I was happy to see that Classified put some new artists on this volume of Serenade, at least artists I haven't been exposed to, such as Deland and Kathy Tardeo (among others). There are so many great songs on this Cd that you have to get it, besides that if you liked the last two volumes of Serenade, then you'll love this one. The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars was because there were a couple of songs (out of the 17 total) that weren't quite my flava, and the Pinay song they put "Dim The Lights" was on Pinay's first cd and I was hoping they'd put a new song by Pinay. But nevertheless, this cd exceded all my expectations and you should definitely give it a listen and buy it. And if you haven't, you might want to pick-up the new Kai cd, The Promise, and Drop N Harmony's debut cd. They are both worth the money.

Bond Born Review

Bond Born
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This special edition of the superb classically influnced quartet's debut album is better than the original. Unlike its predecessor released in countries including the UK, France, Germany and the US, this special Asian Edition is full of extras including songs like Wintersun and Viva!
For someone new to the most sucessful string quartet in the world, this is the perfect CD. Not only are you exposed to the wonderful music Bond has created, but a bonus CD is included, featuring three music videos and an interview plus remixes of Viva! and Korobushka, as performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the Classical Brit Awards. Although the CD is in VCD format, it can usually be played in most US DVD players or on a computer.
Bond's music is a unique blend of classical music fused with world influences, dance, folk, and contemporary music. These four girls put a modern twist to classical music. Bond's sound welcomes new listeners to classical music, giving these listeners a new ear to listen to other classical artists. Songs like Victory and Quixote will have you dancing non-stop and mellow tracks like Hymn and Oceanic will help you relax after a hard day. With the mix of songs on this album, there's something for everyone; folk tunes like Alexander the Great and Korobushka, and true classical-crossover songs like Wintersun and Duel. There's even an excellent cover of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.
Overall, this album gets 5 stars for its eclectic sound and open diversity to different styles of music. It's hard to catagorize their music so we're just gonna call it Bond Music. Bond's sophomore release, Shine is an excellent continuation to Bond's music, expanding the classical-crossover style Bond is so famous for!

The first time I heard them this group was at a Variety Show from PACE at San Francisco State. The group got the whole audience on their feet (and that was just a couple of songs). The album is very good. It's a CD that I keep listening too. I just want to know what ever happened to the group?

Magik 3: Far From Earth Review

DJ Tiesto keeps on topping himself. Not only do I enjoy his own music, but I almost enjoy his remixing even more. This album is a fantastic example of his thouroughly perfect mixing. I heard the original version of most of these songs quite a while ago. Then I picked up Magik Vol. 3: Far From Earth and was completely blown away! All I did was pop in the cd and listened to the whole thing non-stop. Absolutely fabulous! Very shortly after the first song began, I turned the lights off, laid on the floor, and let my eyes roll back into my head; that is what good trance is supposed to do to you. I have nothing bad to say about this album. I recommend anyone and everyone to pick up this cd. Whether you're a trance-lover or not, I guarantee you'll love this cd!!!

I discovered Sweetbox by accident a couple of days ago. I was browsing an mp3 download site and saw this album. I had never heard of Sweetbox before in my life but I thought I'd download a song and see how I liked it. I'm really glad I did. I loved it and now I own the album. I have over 300 cds and this is definitely in my top 10. It hasn't left my cd player since the day I got it. And there isn't a song on this album that I don't like....which is very rare. My favorite songs on this cd are 'Liberty' 'Sorry' and 'Lacrimosa'. I have played these 3 songs over and over and over. I love how there are so many different influences in each song. There is pop, rap, rock, gothic, R&B and more. Jade has a beautiful voice and it's also very powerful. And I love the lyrics to all these songs and I can relate to so many of them...some are almost like they were written just for me. If you don't own this album that is a crime and you are really really missing out because this is one of the best albums I have ever heard. You won't understand until you hear it for yourself so go get it!! I can't say enough about this amazing album....so I will end this review and go listen to it for the millionth time!!

Lovely Review

I recently picked up this album, about 10 years late in the game...but I was 14 when it was released in 1994, so I didn't know about it back then. Anyhow, this is a great look at old-school Jocelyn.
With 'Lovely', you can't help but reminisce about those skating rink moments, skating to the upbeat, fast freestyle music. The production is really indicative of its time, the freestyle beats that are dated now, but were cool back then. There are some great gems on this album "I Feel For You", "Big Love", and her beautiful ballads "Never the One" and "You are the One." The more somber tune "I Never Thought Love Would Break My Heart" is superb, too...with the combination of piano and Jocelyn's vocal stylings- you cannot go wrong! My only complaint is the last reprise track- what was the point of that?? It was like 43 seconds of uselessness.
This is a nice collector's item- plus there's some great photos and lyrics inside the cover. When I meet the diva herself, my copy's getting signed!

I first heard of Robert Randolph when I saw them on David Letterman. I wasn't intending to stay up and watch the musical guest as I had never heard of them. But I was still awake when they came on and I was blown away. I Need More Love was the song they performed and it was great. I looked up more info on this group and now I have both Unclassified and Live at the Wetlands in my collection. This CD doesn't have the "power" of the live CD, but it is plenty good. It's one of the few I can put in and play straight through without skipping any songs.
This is a unique blend of Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Allman Brothers, and lots of funk and blues. And the blend works very well in my opinion. This CD goes from upbeat to slow blues and everything in between.

This debut studio album resurrects the spiritual fervor ofgospel, gutbucket soul of the blues, earthy power of R&Band raucous energy rock. Led by pedal steel guitaristRandolph, who has been compared to Stevie Ray Vaughan,Duane Allman and Jimi Hendrix. Enhanced with behind thescenes footage. Digipak. Warner Bros 2003.

Gold Standard Review

The Good
Nothing
The Bad
I took one look at the photo included with the press materials and said to myself, `this CD is going to suck!' I was right! Now I'm no Brad Pitt, so I'm not really knocking David's looks per se, more of his image. He looks more like he's selling insurance in his promo photo, rather than cutting a rock record. Once "Rock Star Daze" started up with its fuzzy guitars and faded vocals, I began to wonder if this record was cut in a closet on a tape recorder. As the album continues into "Piso Mojado," it sounds like the mix is all missed up.
This goes for all of the songs. Some of the instruments are louder that others and most of them drown out the vocals. Turbow's vocals aren't the best either when you can hear them. It's good that he doesn't challenge himself, but he sounds like Adam Sandler most of the time (without the humor). By about the sixth song, "Define Me," I got sick of this poorly recorded album and checked it out the window. I hope this album is as cheap to purchase as it was to put together.
The Verdict
More like gold-plated standard.

Giantfingers Review

Provoking images of such diverse bands as the Bad Seeds, Velvet Underground, and Los Lobos - Giantfingers refuses to be classified into the ice cube tray that limits and insults American music. The care and attention to detail of this CD makes evident the talent and desire of the band - this is not Rock, nor Country, not Americana - it is something different and something worth every penny. If your looking for something fresh get this CD.

Shine Review

Shine
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bond, perhaps best known to the public at large for "that watch commerical with the women playing violins," delivers an excellent follow-up albumn to their highly regarded debut with "Shine."
Four classically trained musicians and supermodel looks make up Bond. Though critics have complained about the artificial "creation" of the group, the end product is an outstanding fusion of modern beats and classical music the likes of which haven't been seen since violin virtuoso Vanessa-Mae's debut some years ago.
Though the classical essence that defines Bond's talent is on some tracks overwhelmed by what should simply be accompanyment, overall the albumn does not disappoint and offers a couple of outstanding tracks, including the otherworldly "Strange Paradise" and the cover of Led Zepplin's "Kashmir."
Don't let critcs unhappy that a group "created" rather than spontaneously formed deter you from enjoying this talented group's newest albumn. Fans of Bond's debut or similar music--such as Vanessa-Mae's "Violin Player"--should definitely give this albumn a spin.

I first heard Make A Little Noise about 3 years ago, back in 1999. I was amazed by her talent and her amazing voice. This is one of the best albums I have heard, and still, nothing has topped it in my book. It boggles my mind that she is not as well known as I feel she should be. If you're thinking about buying this album, stop thinking, and do it. I am about to buy my third copy of this album because my friends keep "borrowing" it, and just keep it. I don't mind at all, because M:G is spectacular!!!
